Senior Claims Representative (Commecial Auto & GL focus)

80K-100K Annual Salary DOE

Hybrid Schedule (3 days onsite - 2 days WFH) Lakewood, CO 80215

Our client is seeking an experienced Claims Specialist to support the management and resolution of claims across multiple coverage lines, with a primary focus on Liability (Commercial Auto and General Liability). This position involves evaluating coverage, liability, legal, and damage considerations while providing outstanding service to both internal teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and well-versed in handling complex claims in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply policy language, including conditions, exclusions, and endorsements, to determine coverage and liability.

  • Draft and issue claims-related correspondence such as reservation of rights letters, coverage disclaimers, and nonwaiver agreements.

  • Evaluate and adjust reserves based on exposure and claim developments.

  • Conduct thorough investigations, including interviews and evidence gathering, to assess claim facts and determine liability and damages.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of claims activities and investigations.

  • Negotiate claim settlements directly or through mediation, arbitration, or litigation, and prepare appropriate resolution documents.

  • Oversee and collaborate with defense attorneys, independent adjusters, and other vendors involved in claim resolution.

  • Stay informed of applicable laws and regulatory requirements across various jurisdictions.

  • Identify potential subrogation or risk transfer opportunities and act accordingly.

  • Perform additional duties as needed in support of the claims team.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in:

    • Interpreting insurance policies and related contracts.

    • Conducting in-depth claim investigations and coordinating with experts and legal counsel.

    • Preparing and managing claim files, including compliance reporting and reserve analysis.

    • Drafting claims documentation and participating in legal proceedings as necessary.

  • Strong understanding of coverage analysis, negligence principles, and claims resolution strategies.

  • Eligibility to hold or obtain adjusting licenses as required.

  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with various stakeholders such as insureds, attorneys, and service providers.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

  • Strong decision-making, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, including to regional offices or claims sites.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior claims handling experience in Western U.S. states, such as CO, AZ, NM, UT, CA, WA, OR, ID, WY, or MT.
